Beautiful "Fancy," a
Tri-color female, was Sally's third born puppy. She's named
after the pirate ship "Fancy." The Fancy was a 46-gun
private warship that Long Ben Every and his crew took
one night in Spain when its original Captain was dead drunk.
Thereafter, Capt. Every established himself in the Indian
Ocean as perhaps the most successful pirate of all time. The
Fancy spent many a week having her hull cleaned in the Bay
of Pirates ("Forbans"), St. Mary's Island,
Madagascar.
We took Fancy to her new forever companions, David and
Daphne Mason on August 21st. They adore her as you can
see. They have given her a new, Official CTCA name of
"Fancy Emeline of Alika Cotons." "Emmie" now resides
happily in Massachusetts.

Speaking of TALL ships, here's elegant Amity of Alika
Cotons, a Tall Tri-color female. The Amity was the ship of Captain
Thomas Tew. It was on board the Amity that the most
famous speeches in all piratedom were recorded. After having
convinced New England merchants to buy the ship Amity, Tew
sailed with his new crew to the area of Bermuda, where he
gave a speech that all men present agreed with. Tew argued
that they were to risk their lives just to capture booty
from the French for the benefit of the British Royal Africa
Company--the consortium that bought the vessel. Tew argued
that the men would gain neither wealth nor the moral high
ground, so they might as well "better their circumstances"
and "go on account [turn pirate]." The men, devoted already
to this charismatic leader, replied:
"A gold chain or a wooden
leg, we'll stand by you!"
With that, The Amity set sail from Bermuda for the Pirate
Round to Madagascar.
On August 30th, we took Amity of Alika Cotons to live
with Frangipani of Alika Cotons and the wonderful Harold
and Marsha Dobbins family near Philadelphia Pennsylvania
(see above). From left to right is Harold,
Frangipani, Marsha, Jenny and Amanda with Amity. Amity's
new,Official CTCA name is "Foxy Amity of Alika
Cotons." She is foxy and she is having a ball!!!

"Eddie," named after
pirate Captain Edmund Condent, is a striking and
happy home-loving Tri-color Coton. The real Captain
Condent's peripatetic life took him from England to piracy
in the Caribbean, then to the Red Sea where he and his crew
captured a huge prize--an Arab ship's cargo valued at more
than 150,000 pounds. They divided the booty on Saint
Mary's Island, Madagascar (their home in the Indian
Ocean), then in 1720 sailed to Reunion Island where
Condent negotiated a pardon for himself and his now wealthy
crew from the French Governor. Condent married the
governor's sister-in-law and retired to France, where he
became a wealthy merchant in Brittany.
Eddie, who is now named Mocha Latte White, lives
in Florida with his doting human parents, Cathy and Rod
White. We took Mocha White to meet Cathy in New Jersey
on August 28th; they flew to Florida later that day. Cathy
is shown with Mocha above.
